Alpine Capital

UX Research, Analysis, and Design for a Quisitive client
Overview
Alpine Capital came to Quisitive for app design and development to meet the vision of senior executive staff. I got to work with that senior staff to help them envision the end result and to guide the development team. Between a Lean UX research approach and iterative UI design in an agile environment, I produced an intuitive interaction design with no loss of functionality. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, especially given their past experiences with UI designers who struggled to meet their expectations with this same issue.

These mockups represent the end result of many weeks of iterative development, with dozens of early versions. I would be happy to show you the original documents and discuss the project in detail.
Results
- Complex, high data density interface presented in an easy-to-use UI
- Client was really happy with it
Designing the interface to track and project the investor's portfolio performance was an exercise in displaying a huge volume of data and a very complex set of interactions in a very tight UI. The result is one of the most elegant app interfaces I've ever designed.

This was the first time the client's vison for the app had been met. Visualizing the user process was a revelation for them. Since it had been created hand-in-hand with the development team, we knew every feature was possible exactly as shown in the mockups.

The mockup for the opening app screen showing a basic summary of retirement calculations. This diagram also outlines the basics for the interface controls and is the beginnings of a pattern library for this app.
A screen mockup and interaction diagram for displaying current investments allocations and goals
This screen rounds out the major interactions of the app, showing the investment portfolio breakdown as a long scroll with linked slider controls for the amounts. A few predictions listed are an example of how good annotations can help guide both the client and the development team.
